Lee C. Ferguson, D.O., R.P.V.I.

Dr. Ferguson is board certified in vascular and general surgery. He graduated from Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008. He completed his surgical residency at The University of South Alabama Medical Center in 2014 followed by his vascular surgery fellowship at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi in 2016.

Dr. Ferguson is skilled in advanced, minimally invasive, endovascular techniques as well as traditional open surgery for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease (PAD), limb salvage, aortic aneurysmal and occlusive disease, carotid disease, varicose veins, lower extremity swelling and deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary emboli.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Ferguson enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He welcomes the opportunity to treat new patients, and the practice accepts most major medical insurance plans.

Michael B. Hogan, M.D.

Dr. Hogan, board-certified in general surgery and fellowship-trained in vascular surgery, joined Vascular Associates of South Alabama in 2019. He has 19 years of experience performing a variety of procedures and treatments, including minimally invasive surgeries such as atherectomy, laser treatments with drug eluting balloon angioplasty, aneurysm repair, carotid disease management, varicose vein treatments, and dialysis access procedures. Dr. Hogan specializes in limb salvage procedures. 

Dr. Hogan received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Lander University in Greenwood, SC. He attended The University of South Carolina School of Medicine and received his MD. Dr. Hogan did his internship and residency at Keesler Medical Center and completed his Fellowship at The University of Tennessee Chattanooga/ Erlanger Medical Center.

While many procedures can be performed in the diagnostic and interventional lab at our office, Dr. Hogan is also affiliated with Mobile Infirmary Medical Center and Springhill Medical Center. 

Ralph B. Pfeiffer, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S

Dr. Pfeiffer, a native Alabamian, was born in Birmingham, Alabama and educated at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama in 1970 and completed five years of surgical training at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. A subsequent vascular surgery fellowship was completed at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. He has practiced vascular surgery on the Gulf Coast for over 38 years.

Nicholas S. Clapper, D.O.

Dr. Clapper was born and raised in Mobile, AL and graduated magna cum laude from Spring Hill College. He was also a 4-year letterman with the Spring Hill College baseball team. He then attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated from medical school in 2014. He completed his general surgery residency at the Brookwood Baptist Health System in Birmingham, AL in 2019 followed by two years as a fellow in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS which he completed in 2021.

Dr. Clapper is well-trained and skilled in both traditional open surgery as well as endovascular techniques for the wide array of vascular surgical conditions. He has a particular interest in advanced endovascular techniques for the purposes of lower extremity limb salvage, endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, and both surgical and endovascular interventions for carotid arterial disease, including trans-carotid arterial revascularization (TCAR). Additionally, he is well-trained and ready to treat venous conditions including varicose veins and deep venous thrombosis.

Dr. Clapper lives in Mobile with his wife and two daughters. He looks forward to serving the Mobile and surrounding communities. He is affiliated with Mobile Infirmary, Thomas Hospital, and Springhill Medical Center. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Vascular Surgery, and the Southern Association of Vascular Surgery.
